Really?

Gillespie's shape-shifting views on unemployment say it all.

“Really?” exposes Ed Gillespie’s long history of cynically reinventing himself on television and spinning economic numbers so it’s convenient for him.

During the 2012 election, Ed Gillespie repeatedly touted Mitt Romney’s economic record for bringing the unemployment rate down to 4.7 percent in Massachusetts. Just five years later, Gillespie has repeatedly criticized the commonwealth’s 3.7 percent unemployment—saying that “we’re in trouble” and “we’ve got to turn things around in Virginia.”

Really?

Gillespie’s shape-shifting view on jobs is classic double-speak from a long-time D.C. lobbyist. Gillespie switching his views (often on television, no less) is all in an effort to please his political bosses or powerful corporate clients. The question for voters is whether they want a leader who will stand up for Virginia or a political opportunist who will say anything to advance himself.
