In Spite of Gillespie’s Best Attempt At A Trump Impersonation, Ralph Northam Has Long Supported Common Sense Laws To Keep Virginians Safe

Richmond, Va. — Despite Ed Gillespie’s Trumpian rhetoric, the fact remains that Virginia has no sanctuary cities. Gillespie said it himself at the Virginia Bar Association debate this past July, and while at one time he was a proponent of amnesty both in the White House and as a lobbyist — he is now embracing Donald Trump’s rhetoric and policies, proving he’ll say or do anything to get elected. Ed Gillespie is now Donald Trump’s top lobbyist in Virginia.

Meanwhile, Ralph Northam has long supported common sense laws to keep Virginians safe, regardless of their immigration status and he will continue to do so as governor. Ralph believes it doesn’t matter where you are from, if you commit a violent crime in the Commonwealth of Virginia, you are going to jail. Northam understands immigration is a federal issue in need of a federal solution–asking Virginia law enforcement to bear the cost of a do-nothing Congress and increase their legal liability is not the way to protect Virginia families.
